Lines of authority

A line of authority is the category of insurance a license lets you sell. You don’t get one universal license — you get authority per line. This is component #6 of the Uniform Application. GROUNDED · Fenwick

Mapping the Glacis product → the right line

Section titled “Mapping the Glacis product → the right line”

The Glacis play is a Tech E&O policy for healthcare AI. Errors & Omissions / professional liability is a liability coverage, and liability lives in Casualty. STABLE

"Tech E&O for healthcare AI" = professional liability (errors & omissions) = a LIABILITY / casualty coverage LINE OF AUTHORITY: CASUALTY (so target the P&C track)

The “healthcare” in the product describes the customer’s vertical, not the line. The coverage itself is Casualty, not Health. The Health line (Domain 8) is about medical/disability insurance — a different thing. STABLE

Both the individual (DRLP) and the entity must hold Casualty authority, because the DRLP must hold the same line the entity seeks (see 01 The DRLP). GROUNDED · Fenwick

Variable products need securities licensing too

Section titled “Variable products need securities licensing too”

Selling variable life/annuity products requires FINRA registration (commonly a Series 6 or 7 plus a Series 63) in addition to a Life line. This is not needed for the Glacis Tech E&O (casualty) path — note it only so you recognize it on the exam. STABLE

The line you pick determines:

  • which exam you sit (P&C vs L&H),
  • which pre-licensing course you take,
  • what the DRLP must hold,
  • what the entity can be licensed for,
  • and therefore what the MGA can actually write.

Choosing Casualty / P&C is the foundational decision for the entire Glacis arc.
