Casualty coverages

The major liability products. The professional-liability/E&O family is where the Glacis product lives — flagged below. All STABLE.

The core business-liability policy. Covers:

  • Premises & operations — bodily injury / property damage arising from the business’s premises or ongoing work (slip-and-fall in your store).
  • Products & completed operations — harm from your products or finished work after you’ve left the job.
  • Personal & advertising injury — libel, slander, copyright in advertising, wrongful eviction, etc.

CGL is typically written on an occurrence trigger. STABLE

  • Personal Auto Policy (PAP) and Business/Commercial Auto — liability (bodily injury/property damage you cause), medical payments, uninsured/ underinsured motorist (UM/UIM), PIP/no-fault (in no-fault states), and physical damage (collision + comprehensive — these last two are property coverages riding in an auto policy).

Workers compensation & employers liability

Section titled “Workers compensation & employers liability”
  • Workers compensation — a statutory, no-fault system: employees injured on the job get medical + wage benefits regardless of fault, in exchange for giving up the right to sue the employer. (Coverage A = statutory benefits.)
  • Employers liability (Coverage B) — covers the employer for work-injury suits that fall outside the workers-comp system.
  • Rating uses an experience modification factor (mod) — see 02 Rating & pricing.

Professional liability / E&O — ★ the Glacis family

Section titled “Professional liability / E&O — ★ the Glacis family”

Coverage for financial harm caused by a professional’s negligent act, error, or omission while rendering professional services. Almost always claims-made. Variants:

  • Errors & Omissions (E&O) — professionals/service providers (incl. insurance agents themselves).
  • Directors & Officers (D&O) — liability of company leadership for management decisions.
  • Cyber liability — data breach, privacy, network security (first- and third-party).
  • Technology E&O (Tech E&O) — E&O for tech products/services, usually blended with cyber.This is the Glacis product. See 06 Tech E&O and 02 E&O / professional liability.
  • Medical malpractice — professional liability for healthcare providers.

The Glacis play insures healthcare AI vendors’ professional/tech exposure — a Tech E&O product. The “healthcare” is the customer vertical; the line is Casualty. See 03 Lines of authority.

  • Umbrella / excess liability — sits above primary policies, adding limit (and sometimes broader coverage).
  • Commercial crime & fidelity — employee dishonesty, theft, forgery.
  • Surety bonds — a three-party guarantee (principal, obligee, surety) that an obligation will be performed; not insurance in the indemnity sense, but sold by casualty producers.
  • Businessowners Policy (BOP) — packages property + general liability for small business (its liability part is casualty).
  • Supplementary payments — defense costs, bail bonds, court costs the insurer pays in addition to the limit.
  • Additional insureds — third parties added to the policy (common in contracts).
  • Aggregate erosion — each paid claim reduces the aggregate limit available for the rest of the policy period.
