NIPR & Sircon portals
These are the plumbing — the electronic portals through which you actually file, renew, and manage licenses across states. You won’t be quizzed heavily on them on the exam, but you need them to operationalize the licensing project.
NIPR — National Insurance Producer Registry
Section titled “NIPR — National Insurance Producer Registry”NIPR is a non-profit created by the NAIC to help states standardize how they share regulatory information. It created a fairly uniform electronic producer licensing process. From the NIPR portal, individuals and entities can: GROUNDED · Fenwick

- access the rules and regulations of each state’s insurance framework

Sircon
Section titled “Sircon”Sircon (a Vertafore product) is a second web portal that lets individuals and agencies apply for, renew, and manage license portfolios. It serves a similar function to NIPR and is an alternative many agencies use. GROUNDED · Fenwick

What runs through these portals

- Entity licenses.
- Carrier appointments (see 05 Appointment).
- Renewals and address/affiliation changes.
Practical sequence
Section titled “Practical sequence”- Get the individual resident license first (exam + application).
- File the entity license (with a DRLP) in the entity’s primary-business state.
- File non-resident licenses in the other states by reciprocity.
- File carrier appointments so you can actually act for an insurer.
- Renew on each state’s cycle (every 1–3 years — VERIFY the exact cycle).
